LEGAZPI CITY: The medical mission of Rep. Rolando Andaya and the local government unit of Sipocot town on Thursday turned disastrous after a motorized boat ferrying 21 people capsized killing one while another remains missing.
Police Chief Insp. Jerome Regachuelo, Sipocot chief of police said Reynante Calayo was found before dawn on Feb. 25, 2016 at the seashore of Barangay Anid, while Artemio Sabalbero, boat operator, remains missing as of press time.
The 19 passengers rescued were Virgel Mark Baldoza; Joana Mae Alemania; Cito Peña; Jamir Abejuela; Cherry San Joaquian; Jay Cabdelaria; Renne Nebria; Jay Marbella; Leah Artiaga; Marie Alemania; Dennis Oliva; Mary Grace Genio; Francis Louie Ramos; Orly Consulta; Arquimedes Dolor; Marlon Sto Domingo; Virgil Francisco; Jojo Saberon; Myel Faith Navarroza and John Aira Tarvovin.
Senior Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, PNP regional spokesman said that the boat capsized on Wednesday at about 7 p.m., along the waters of Anid River enroute from Barangay Mangga in Sipocot going to Barangay San Vicente.
The boat passengers composed the advance party of Andaya and the LGU for a medical mission scheduled on Thursday when the incident happened.
Meanwhile, the PNP Maritime and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) are continuing search-and-rescue operation for Sabalbero.
