ABS-CBN’s talent management arm Star Magic is setting free a new breed of angels on its 23rd anniversary. Comprised of nine talented young women—a few of them already known in showbiz circles—the Star Magic Angels were chosen and gathered to fill a void in casting needs for television

“We’re being molded by Star Magic to play more aggressive—and I guess you can say sexier—roles on TV. Roles that aren’t ‘pa-tweetums’ but roles that empower women,” explained popular cosplayer Myrtle Sarrosa, who is currently an official anime jock of Hero TV and courtside host for NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association).

The bubbly beauty sat down with The Manila Times and further said, “I want to re-establish myself in an image that is more mature today, and somehow, I also hope to encourage other women to embrace their sexy side.”

Besides Myrtle, Francesca Floirendo also stood out from the Angels for her perfect Filipina model looks, as well as her back story. A member of the prominent Floirendo clan of the south, the 20-year-old graduate of Fine Arts and Interior Design from the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) made a deal with her parents that if she fails to make it in show business in the next three years, she will to get herself “real job.”

“I really feel this is what I want to do right now, and so far so good,” Francesca, who is also related to Gloria Diaz, Isabelle Daza, and Georgina Wilson, enthused.

Hanna Ledesma, another beauty and brains stunner, has a similar story as Francesca. A graduate of a quota course in ADMU—BS Management Information System—she was already employed in a multi-national IT company when she realized she wanted to be in show business.

“I guess being under the lights gives me a different rush,” she admitted as she recalled how she did the graveyard shift and went straight to Bb. Pilipinas rehearsals, which she used as her stepping stone to join show business.

Spotted by movie producer Atty. Jojie Alonso (English Only Please, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank), Hanna has already appeared in the 2014 MMFF entry Kubot, and is looking forward to more projects with Star Magic co-managing her career.

Officially launched on July 26 over ASAP 20, the rest of the Star Magic Angels are Loren Burgos, Karen Reyes, Shey Bustamante, Yana Asistio, Aiko Climaco, and Jed Montero.
