The country’s premier songwriting competition, PhilPop, in its 2016 edition, has revealed the exciting line up of celebrity interpreters this year.

Specifically handpicked to lend their voice and performance for a composition of one of the top 12 songwriters, they are Nyoy Volante for Jeroel Maranan’s “Sintunado,” Acapellago and Jimmy Marquez for JC Jose’s “Stars Are Aligned,” Itchyworms for Jazz Nicolas and Wally Acolola’s “Di na Muli,” Kenjhons for Karl Gaurano and Daryl Reyes’ “Friday Night,” Cookie Chua, Bayang Barrios, and The Benjamins for Miguel and Paolo Guico’s “Tinatangi,” The Juans for Johann Garcia’s “Binibini sa MRT,” Ramiru Mataro for his personal entry “Kahon,” Sugar and Spice for Joan Da’s “Baliw Sa Ex-boyfriend Ko,” Monica Cuenco for Keiko Necesario’s “Nobody But You,” Banda ni Kleggy and Aikee for Aikee Aplacador’s “Pabili Po,” Yassi Pressman for Mike Villegas and Brian Cua’s “Dumadagundong,” and Jason Dy for Soc Villanueva’s “Lahat.”

PhilPop head Ryan Cayabyab said that this year’s list of interpreters forms a good mix of veterans and upstarts with diverse styles and music influences, that is guaranteed to give PhilPop’s audience a wonderful celebration of music.

Also announced at the press launch on May 27 at Hive Hotel in Quezon City was 2016 digital album on Spotify and the PhilPop 2016 Commemorative Special Edition Book.

The songwriters and interpreters are vying for the much-coveted PhilPop 2016 Grand Prize come Finals Night slated July 23 at the Kia Theater in Quezon City.
