Sharon Cuneta has had enough bashing on social media from fans and supporters of Sarah Geronimo.
Nicknamed Popsters (taken from the Geronimo’s moniker Pop Princess), Cuneta was labelled by the fans as “hindi sport” for snubbing the declaration of Jona Soquite as the first “The Voice Teens PH” winner. Soquite is Geronimo’s ward. Cuneta’s ward, Jeremy Guinoga, placed last.
The other two coaches and students, Lea Salonga’s Mica Bercerro placed second, and Bamboo’s Isabela Vinzon placed third.
On Sunday, Cuneta, who has long held the Megastar monicker in showbiz, posted a lengthy litany on Facebook page Sharon Cuneta Official explaining, among other things, what happened soon after Soquite’s declaration as winner exactly a week before.
“Can you please not believe the rumours na I snubbed everybody after Team Sarah and Jona won on The Voice Teens? And kino-comfort ko noon ay si Jeremy … When I looked gumitna na si Jona kakanta na ulit so ayoko namang ‘pumapel.’ Tapos nakita ko halos in one line pinapababa na kami ng stage sa side,” she began.
Cuneta explained she didn’t have the chance to personally congratulate Sarah and Jona, but she did so on Facebook.
Addressing the post to her bashers, she continued, “Bakit pinalalaki ito o inumpisahan man lang? Si Sarah parang nakababatang kapatid ko. Pinagtanggol ko noon sa intriga when kahit sa sarili ko never ko ginawa yon dahil naniniwala akong isa siya sa dapat lang respetuhin at sumikat dahil matino siyang bata. Bakit ko gagawin yon?”
She furthered, “The way you fans act and talk reflect on your idol. Napakabilis niyo naman makalimot ng mga ipinakita kong kabutihan kay Sarah over the years. Itaas ninyo ang iniidolo ninyo. Huwag kayo manghila pababa ng idolo ng iba.”
Then she implored, “Please stop this. You are hurting me for no reason. Tama na po please. Tapos na ang issue na ito as far as I am concerned. God bless you. At pinapasa-Diyos ko na lahat kayo at lahat ng ito. Salamat po.”
On Monday, Cuneta posted a meaningful digital poster that said, “Dear Universe – I’m biting the bullet. Your turn.”
