GMR-Megawide Construction Corp. will offer bids in all airport projects in the country, citing that in some projects “we find the numbers are really good,” said Louie Ferrer, Vice President for Marketing and Corporate Information Officer.
“We’re interested in all so far, why? Because we’re already in Cebu (Mactan-Cebu Airport). The Visayas Region that’s interesting for us. For Davao and Cagayan, the numbers are really good,” Ferer told reporters at the pre-qualification conference for Regional Airports Developments, Operation and Maintenance Projects.
The government has announced plans to accept bids for the operation and maintenance of Clark International Airport, expansion of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), and a new airport in Sangley Point in Cavite.
On Clark International Airport, Ferrer said: “Di pa namin alam yung numbers. Di pa namin alam yung data in Clark, but as I mentioned, we want to go into the airports sector.”
Last week, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) said five potential bidders, including GMR-Megawide, bought pre-qualification documents for construction and maintenance of five regional airports.
The other potential bidders include Metro Pacific Investment Corp, JG Summit; San Miguel Corp.; Philippine Skylanders Inc. and Aboitiz.
In 2014, GMR-Megawide consortium signed a 25-year concession agreement with the DOTC for Mactan-Cebu International Airport, after fulfilling all post-award requirements, including payment to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority of P14.4-billion.
