Martin Mendoza bagged the low gross plum while Manuel Briones captured the low net trophy in the 2017 Mabuhay Miles Elite Invitational Golf Tournament last November 14 at The Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Mendoza, a two-handicapper, finished with an even-par 72 for 70 net while Briones, a 12-handicapper, finished with 69 net points.
Over 200 golfers joined the silver edition of the tournament organized by Philippine Airlines, the Asia’s oldest airline.
Jenz Vincent Tecson snatched the Class A crown with a 70 followed by Joseph Fulo (70) and Marvin Caparros (71), who finished second and third, respectively.
In class B division, Ricardo Pronove carded a two-under 70 to rule his group. First runner-up Ricardo Crisostomo Santos also fired a 70 but lost via countback to Pronove. Joseph Gospel Aquino finished third with 85 gross and 70 net.
Lutgardo Cruz, meanwhile, was hailed the Class C winner with 70 net points while Robert Lim (71) and Ivan Wynford (72) finished second and third, respectively.
Class D champion Byounghyun Suh sizzled with 72 and won via countback against Emeterio Dikitanan (72) followed by Reynaldo Maclang (73).
Other winners were Steven Mark Roberson (72- seniors), Catherine Borja (72- ladies), and Rodel Mangulabnan (67- guest).
The tournament was backed by Toyota (for hole in one), Century Park Hotel, Pan Pacific Hotel, Mastercard, OmniPay, Petron, PNB, Boeing and PNB Gen Insurers.
The Mabuhay Miles golf competition was first held in 1992 as the PAL Mabuhay Club Invitational golf tournament and was renamed Mabuhay Miles Elite Invitational golf tournament a decade after.
