Meralco Bolts coach Norman Black announced on Thursday that his team has signed former Barako Bull import Allen Durham for their campaign in the upcoming Philippine Basketball Association Season 41 Governors’ Cup in July.
“Allen Durham who played for Barako [Bull] a couple of years ago will be our import,” Black told The Manila Times. “We are pretty confident he can come in and help us win games. Durham will arrive June 17.”
The 6’5 Durham, 28, is an all-around player that posted an average of 25.5 points, 23 rebounds plus six assists as a member of Barako Bull during 2014 season. The Barako Bull franchise was later purchased by the Phoenix Petroleum Company in 2015
The Bolts, with best import Arinze Onuaku, topped the elimination round of the last Commissioner’s Cup with 9-2 win-loss record. But the Alaska Aces ended their campaign in the best-of-five semifinals.
“We’re tracking him for a long period of time since last year and we saw his progress when we scout for an import,” Meralco team manager Paolo Trillo said. “He’s the smaller version of Onuaku who can play inside and that’s what we need. We are very confident he can help us.”
