JOSH Davis finished with 31 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks as Meralco downed Rain or Shine, 92-87, on Tuesday to stay unbeaten in four games in the Philippines Basketball Association Commissioners Cup Season 40 at the Araneta Coliseum.
The 6’8 hardworking import Davis also posted 15 points in the fourth quarter that helped the Bolts outscore the Elasto Paintmasters in the final phase of the game and erase a 13-point deficit (62-75).
“A strong finish for us in the fourth quarter that made a difference in the game,” said Meralco head coach Norman Black. “We made adjustments defensively. A lot of credit to Josh Davis for coming out with a good offensive game.”
“Credit goes to our defense in the last quarter too and a good start for us,” he added. “Davis is a good player defensively and in rebounding. What’s important for us is being able to beat the strong teams. Every time you beat a powerhouse team it builds your confidence.”
Playmaker Mike Cortez posted 13 points while Gary David and Cliff Hodge added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Meralco.
Rain or Shine import Rick Jackson finished with 22 points and Paul Lee 12 points.
The Elasto Paint Masters’ record dropped to 2-2.
