FC Meralco Manila eyes to stretch its unbeaten run when it clashes with Davao Aguilas FC (DAFC) in the Philippines Football League (PFL) today at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City.
Meralco Manila and the Davao Aguilas meet at 4 p.m., their second battle in the inaugural season of the top football league in the country.
Meralco is currently on top of the standings with 15 points after a blazing five-game winning roll en route to its quadruple round robin campaign.
With Spanish defender Joaco Cañas and skipper Phil Younghusband at the helm, the Sparks nailed an electrifying 2-0 win over rival Kaya FC-Makati in the Metro Manila derby on Saturday.
Meralco blanked Aguilas, 2-0, in their first meeting back in June 3 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.
But the atmosphere may change as the Aguilas soar into the match with the Davaoeños at their back.
However, Davao is still languishing at the bottom half of the leaderboard with only two points to show on a 0-2-3 win-draw-loss record.
DAFC shared the spoils with Stallion Laguna FC in a goalless stalemate on Sunday at the Biñan Football Stadium.
Meanwhile, Ilocos United FC seeks to put up a successful home stand this time around as it tangles with the streaking JPV Marikina FC at the Elpidio Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
Ilocos United dropped to the cellar with a lone marker on a 0-1-4 card after suffering a 0-3 beating from Global Cebu FC on Sunday.
JPV Marikina, on the other hand, is coming off a huge 2-1 upset over Visayan powerhouse Ceres Negros FC at the Rizal Memorial pitch on Saturday.
With the surprising victory, JPV climbed to solo second with 12 points on a 4-0-2 slate.
