THE Metro Manila Council (MMC) approved the exemption of Terminal Appointment Booking System (TABS) users from truck bans imposed in Metro Manila to further decongest Manila ports. MMDA chairman Emerson Carlos said TABS aims to reduce number of trucks during rush hours and avoid repeat of port congestion. It will take effect 15 days after publication in two newspapers of general circulation. The exemption will not apply to trucks plying EDSA and the central business districts in Makati, Pasig, and Taguig. TABS is an electronic platform for booking containers at the Manila International Container Terminal and Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI).
