Mets keep manager Collins through 2017

NEW YORK: Terry Collins has agreed to a two-year contract extension as manager of the New York Mets, team general manager Sandy Alderson said on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) before fainting at a news conference. The Collins deal, which will keep him with the Mets through 2017, came three days after they lost to the Kansas City Royals in the World Series. The Mets have not won Major League Baseball’s best-of-seven final since 1986.
