• MGB orders mining firms to restore Cagayan shores

APARRI, CAGAYAN: The regional office of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) here has affirmed that illegal black sand mining operations in the province have been put to a stop as it ordered firms to rehabilitate the mining-disturbed shorelines of Cagayan. MGB-Region 2 Director Mario Ancheta said he already issued an order requiring former black sand mining firms and operators to conduct rehabilitation efforts and clear their designated areas of quarrying equipment. “By the end of 2014 we hope to see no traces of their operations,” Ancheta said.
