• Migz Zubiri tops mock polls held in Senate

Former senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri on Thursday expressed his sincerest gratitude to the Senate employees for the overwhelming support he got at yesterday’s Senate mock polls.

With a total vote of 645, Zubiri ranked No. 1 in the mock polls spearheaded by the senate employees’ union or the Samahan ng mga Empleyadong Nagkakaisa sa Adhikain at Demokratikong Organisasyon (Senado).

“I’m grateful for the votes cast by senate employees that I can only interpret as a recognition of my performance and platform. Their votes remind me that they often know better than we dare acknowledge. This vote is their desired result in the national mid-term poll on Monday. I can’t thank them enough,” Zubiri said.

He added that the senate employees are the sector among voters who are truly aware of the diligence exerted by senators.

“Bago pa man po makarating sa mga tao, sila po ang unang nakakaalam at nakakakilala kung sino sa mga nakaraan at kasalukuyang mga senador ang mga masisipag at nagsisilbi ng tapat sa bayan. Sobra-sobra po ang aking pasasalamat sa kanila, sa botong ibinigay nila sa akin,” Zubiri said.

The Senate mock poll is one of the most awaited mock election results because it gives an insight into the minds and hearts of Senate employees. It is likewise critical because it is they who know the skills, advocacies and dealings of incumbents and past senators, and, the potential of neophytes. They see the senators work, up close and personal.

“Senate employees are also respectful of the institution and would like nothing less than the best for the Senate and for the country, and, this vote is their own humble way of guiding the Filipino voter on May 13. With sharp minds and the benefit of spending long hours in the business of legislation, their vote has a very high degree of credibility,” Zubiri said.
