• MILF economic zones? OPAPP betrayal!

    5

    THEY’VE done it again!

The bright girls of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) have again dealt with foreign agents to pursue their pet project of continuing to please the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). They don’t seem to know–or are deliberately ignoring this fact as a nothing–that the leaders of this rebel group are partly responsible for the massacre of the PNP-SAF 44 and have dishonored and insulted the Philippine Government, the fallen SAF commandos and the Filipino people by arrogantly refusing to make a determined effort to gather and return the arms and personal belongings of the massacre victims from the MILF and BIFF warriors who took them.

The OPAPP people obviously don’t share the opinion of our Supreme Court justices and our senators who have declared the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) unconstitutional.

Here is the complete statement released by the Philippine Council on Foreign Relations and the Philippine Ambassadors’ Foundation Inc. about an event in Kuala Lumpur last week in which the participants planned to turn the so-called MILF territories (what???) into economic zones.

Statement of the Philippine Ambassadors Foundation, Inc. (PAFI) and the Philippine Council for Foreign Relations, Inc. (PCFR)

From newspaper accounts (in The Philippine Star) it would appear that with the non-passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) in Congress, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) has taken its case to Kuala Lumpur and the so-called third parties purportedly to continue negotiations with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and [discuss]the transformation of MILF camps into economic zones.

At first glance this would seem to be commendable that foreign countries would continue to be interested in the peace process. Upon further scrutiny however the Philippine Council for Foreign Relations, Inc. (PCFR) and the Philippine Ambassadors Foundations, Inc. (PAFI) are very concerned about the following:

Given the findings of the Philippine legislature that the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and its implementing legislation has serious constitutional infirmities it appears that the insistence of the OPPAP to give the MILF that status of belligerency, making the peace process exclusive and presenting the group to the international partners, is the height of imprudence if not a complete defiance of the will of Congress which represents the people of this nation for a more inclusive peace process that involves other stakeholders in Mindanao.

This initiative taken by the OPAPP without consultation with Congress which has serious concerns with the CAB/BBL, without consulting stakeholders in Mindanao like the Sultanate of Sulu, the Christians and Lumads which may be affected by the apparent arbitrary claims by the MILF to territories in Mindanao to be converted into economic zones, is sure to invite a renewal of hostilities in the area.

The very act of the OPPAP to internationalize a domestic issue involving local autonomy is playing into the hands of interested parties abroad such as Malaysia, against which this country has territorial claims and cannot therefore be considered as an honest broker.

This is also in defiance of the Tripoli agreement, which is still a work in progress as claimed by the MNLF. Indeed, the attempt of foreign parties to micromanage the peace process in Mindanao, with the encouragement of our own Philippine panel which might even be considered seditious, as it appears to be aiding and abetting an opposite party which has claimed to be in a state of war with this nation as implied by the wordings of the CAB.

The tacit approval by this administration of developments in Kuala Lumpur requires the immediate attention of stakeholders in Mindanao because this is in effect allows the takeover by the MILF of chunks of Philippine territory purportedly belonging to the MILF to be converted into economic zones.

The PAFI/PCFR considers this development to become even more contentious than the EDCA and the West Philippine Sea issue aggravated by the apparent endorsement of this administration without consultations with Congress and the stakeholders in Mindanao. [END OF PAFI/PCFR STATEMENT)

We are appalled by the continuing betrayal of the interests of the Philippine Republic by President Benigno Aquino 3rd’s OPAPP officials.

He and they must be held to account for this and other treasonous acts.

    1. Ano ba yan???? The OPAAP nationalists kuno are selling parts of the Philippines behind congress’ back with the knowledge of the president???? Oh my God how low can you go to do such a seditious act?????

    2. OPAPP traydor sa bansa …….. dapat diyan bitayin i-firing squad lahat …. anyway come may election all these shenanigans of P(ab)noy in Mindanao will end, and hopefully OPAPP will be dismantled and thrown to the dustbin of history.

    3. True Filipinos MUST now understand the OBVIOUS TREACHEROUS ACTIONS OF OPAPP AND THE PNOY AQUINO ADMINISTRAION. DO NOT LET OPAPP COMPROMISE OUR RIGHTS TO OUR OWN TERRITORIES.

    4. OPAPP officials are not traitors. They are robbers. Just follow the money trail, then you will know why they are doing these things. Pinoy Aquino believes that war will be avoided by throwing billions of tax pesos. Pres. Ramos also think that by giving Nur Misuari billions, that war will be avoided. That truth is they are just delaying the war till the MILF MNLF get more arms and guns and recruits more rebels to kill our soldiers . My opinion, they are just a bunch of cowards and fails to feel the reality and human nature of these terrorist.
