MILF to be disarmed after passage of BBL

CAMP DARAPANAN, Sultan Kudarat: Decommissioning of Moro Islamic Liberation Front forces will be put on hold pending passage of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), MILF Chairman Murad said here on Thursday.

Murad reiterated the MILF’s stance after a meeting with Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd in the MILF camp in Sultan Kudarat.

“The decision of the MILF is that if we will continue with the implementation of the CAB, all [provisions]that [are]tied with the BBL will be put on hold until the BBL is passed into law,” he told reporters.

Murad was referring to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro, a peace pact between the MILF and the Philippine government that was signed in March 2014.

The CAB defines decommissioning as putting the MILF forces beyond use.

“Decommissioning is part of the normalization process under the CAB. There’s a phasing. Phases 1, 2 and 3. Phase 1 of the normalization is the symbolic decommissioning, which is under the CAB but is not tied up with the BBL progress ,” Murad said.

The symbolic decommissioning of the MILF forces transpired last June 2015 also here in Camp Darapanan.

The ceremony, witnessed by no less than President Benigno Aquino 3rd and Mohagher Iqbal, MILF chief negotiator for the peace process, featured the deactivation of over 75 MILF weapons, including 55 high-powered firearms.

In the same ceremony, the MILF also decommissioned 145 of its 10,000 armed men under the Bangsamoro Islamic Forces.

Murad said the MILF will not abandon the peace pact it signed under the Aquino Administration.

“What is important is that the gains of the peace process will be preserved and implemented.

Any BBL that will comply with the CAB is acceptable to us because the major concern is the implementation of the CAB,” Murad said.

Scrap both the CAB and BBL.

If BBL will be passed into a law, the gov’t will fund the MILF to buy new weapons and to use it someday against the Phil. gov’t.

BBL is the Malaysian version of Marcos’ Operation Merdeka. MILF is the PH’s funded army in Malaysia whose mission is to sow terror in Mindanao in order for our gov’t to focus quelling insurrections there so that our gov’t will have no time and resources to take back Sabah from Malaysia physically.
