Senate President Franklin Drilon sounded more like a sleazy cheerleader for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in hyping the reported death of Abdul Basit Usman in an alleged “encounter” with MILF rebels.
Could it not have been a “misencounter,” a repeat performance of the January 25 Mamasapano massacre?
Well, Drilon instantly declared that MILF’s killing of Usman should gain the trust and approval of the Filipino people in moving forward with the bogus peace process with the separatist group.
Apparently, Noynoy Aquino’s biggest crony at the Senate has expected us to simply disregard or forget that Usman and Malaysian bomber Zulkifli bin Hir or Marwan, lived and were in fact highly regarded as leaders among MILF constituents.
It’s preposterous to even suggest that the MILF decided to execute Usman to win the hearts of Filipinos three months after they cold-bloodedly massacred policemen belonging to the Special Action Force (SAF).
Not even the military, in its recent offensive against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), could get Usman who enjoyed MILF’s protection.
I’d give more credence though to Armed Forces chief Gregorio Pio Catapang’s report that Usman was murdered by his own men, who were fighting over the one million dollar bounty offered by the United States.
Similarly, the bloody mess that Noynoy’s and Alan Purisima’s “Oplan Exodus” led to was motivated by the greed for six million US dollar reward money for the head of Marwan.
Purisima, in cahoots with several MILF close-in aides for Marwan, sent the SAF in the tragic suicide mission, derailing the moro-moro peace and BBL deal at Congress.
Now, in utter disregard for the widespread opposition and rejection of the proposed BBL, Drilon is shamelessly pushing for the passing of this legislative scam that would fleece the nation of up to a trillion pesos in public funds.
Already, the Noynoy administration is wasting millions of pesos in its media campaign to promote the BBL garbage.
This merely shows the phony administration’s habit of underestimating the people’s capacity for critical thinking.
The Senate should instead be investigating “in aid of legislation” the massive anomalies in the Cabinet such as those that involve Agriculture Sec. Proceso Alcala and Defense Sec. Voltaire Gazmin whose agencies have engaged in highly irregular projects, and awarding them to favored contractors.
But Drilon’s leadership has turned deaf, blind and mute in complete disregard of the widespread corruption in the sham Matuwid na Daan regime.
Drilon and the rest of Noynoy’s rah-rah girls at Congress can do all the cheerleading they want and try to railroad the passage of the BBL but they will not win the hearts and minds of the people.
Filipinos must not allow a sellout, which Noynoy’s inutile administration is advancing in favor of the MILF which does not represent the larger constituency of Muslim Mindanao.
Lokohin n’yo ang mga lelang n’yo.
Pacman robbed in Vegas ‘hit and run’
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Pambansang Kamao Manny Pacquiao who made us proud as ever by gallantly putting up a good fight against trickster Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Pacman was indeed a true winner, who weathered a right shoulder injury and went after “The Money” all night.
I was there and I saw from ringside how the “fight of the century” turned into a chicken chase.
Mayweather clowned and resorted to hit-and-run tactics throughout the uneventful match.
But our very own boxing icon earned the respect of the world and those of champions that came before him.
Mabuhay ka, Manny!
