THE Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Thursday called on the public to be extra vigilant against possible terror attacks in light of the multiple blasts that rocked Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines placed all its units on heightened alert to ensure readiness for any contingency.
AFP spokesperson Col. Restituto Padilla however said no threats have been monitored in the Philippines.
“Security sector agencies maintain a proactive stance to prevent such incidents,” he said.
The AFP and the Philippine National Police (PNP) said government security forces have been conducting operations to prevent terror acts anywhere in the country.
“We appeal to the public to be extra vigilant and to help our security forces address the threat,” the PNP and AFP said in a joint statement.
“With our collective efforts, we can make a difference in securing our people from any terror acts. That is the Filipino spirit of bayanihan,” they added.
