• Military truck plunges into a ravine in Zambo Sur; injures 10 soldiers


    PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur: Ten soldiers, including an officer, were injured after the vehicle they were riding fell into a 100-meter deep ravine in the nearby town of Aurora, this province, a military official disclosed Tuesday.

    Army’s 1st Infantry Division Information Officer Capt. Franco Suelto said the incident took place around 2:30 p.m. Monday in Barangay Anunang, Aurora town.

    Suelto did not release the identities of the victims, saying only that they are assigned with the Army’s 52nd Engineering Brigade. They were rushed to a hospital in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

    Suelto said the soldiers were aboard a military truck traveling to the headquarters of the 52nd Engineering Brigade in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, when the vehicle’s break malfunctioned while traversing on a blind curve.

    Suelto said the vehicle plunged into a 100-meter ravine and injured all the soldiers aboard after the driver lost control of the truck’s steering wheel.

    The police said the place of the incident is known to be accident-prone area. PNA
