Mindanao LGUs back NGCP transmission line safety

Various local government units (LGUs) in Mindanao have unanimously expressed support through a city council resolution condemning the spate of bombings of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines’ (NGCP) towers and urging the government to employ measures to ensure adequate power supply in the region. Members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod (City Council) of Dapitan, Oroquieta, Zamboanga, Cotabato, and Malaybalay passed resolutions acknowledging the detrimental effect of tower bombings, particularly NGCP Tower 25 in Ramain, Lanao del Sur, which isolated the Agus hydroplants from the grid, to the already vulnerable socio-economic and peace and order situation of Mindanao. Similarly, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Misamis Oriental earlier issued Resolution No. 09-2016 in January 2016, entitled “A Resolution Strongly Condemning the Bombings of the Power Transmission Towers of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines in Mindanao and Urging the National Government to Take Urgent Action to Include the Declaration of A State of Emergency in the Affected Areas”.
