SEN. Miriam Defensor Santiago, who was rushed Monday to the Makati Medical Center after suffering complications from her illness, has been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from her private room.
This according to the senator’s husband, lawyer Narciso “Jun” Santiago, who issued Wednesday a statement regarding his wife’s condition.
No visitors are allowed at the moment, and gifts such a flowers will not be accepted, the husband said.
He added that the feisty senator, who has stage 4 lung cancer, still bears well her trademark sense of humor.
He also said that his wife extends her thanks to all her family, friends, supporters and fans who have helped pray for her recovery and those who sent their well-wishes on Facebook.
The senator ran for president in the May 9 elections, but lost to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. JEFFERSON ANTIPORDA
