Mitsubishi Motors Philippines’ Fuso trucks sales rose 178.6 percent to 628 units in the first five months of the year from 227 units a year earlier.
The company attributes the strong sales performance to rising demand for brand new trucks, especially from both multinational companies and growing local enterprises, which are very particular with logistics downtime caused by breakdowns or accidents because of an ageing fleet.
Fuso trucks offer low running costs, durability and high-caliber quality, Mitsubishi said.
Passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) also posted improved sales, with a 36.6-percent increase, helped by the introduction of Mirage G4 last year and the growing popularity of the Mirage hatchback, it said.
Year-to date sales of Mitsubishi passenger car models reached 5,073 units, up from 3,714 units sold during the corresponding period last year. Offering good fuel economy, these models continue to draw interest among subcompact car buyers, the company said.
LCV sales rose a slight 7.5 percent, with a total of 14,830 units sold in the first five months.
The Montero Sport, Strada, Adventure and L300 remained as the brand’s bestsellers in the country, Mitsubishi said.
