The Lancer EX now has a sportier exterior design that makes it more eye catching. Its new bumper design gives the EX a more aggressive and sport look. The bumper now has chrome accents for the GT-A variant. Both variants also now have built-in Day-light Running Lamps (DRL) as standard feature.
Making the Lancer EX look sleeker are the new design of its alloy wheels. Now available in two-tone color finish, the GLS comes with 16-inch alloy wheels while the GT-A has bigger 18-inch wheels.
A new multimedia entertainment system makes the driving experience aboard the Lancer more pleasurable as it now features a built-in GPS, USB ready and Bluetooth capability.
Power and drivetrain
Powering the Lancer are two new power plants namely namely, the all-new 4A92 (GLS Variant) and the 4B11 Engine (GT-A Variant).
The 4A92 Engine is a 1.6-liter 16-valve DOHC with MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) that uses a lightweight aluminum block for better power to weight ratio efficiency. The power plant has engineered Mitsubishi technology that gives optimal performance all throughout the power band. The technology stabilizes combustion without sacrificing fuel efficiency and emissions. Maximum output of the slick shifting Lancer EX 1.6 MIVEC is 117 ps (115 horsepower) at 6,000 revolutions per minute while maximum torque of 154 Newton-meters is achieved at 4,000 rpm via a smooth shifting five-speed manual transmission.
Meanwhile, the 4B11 Engine is a 2.0-liter 16-valve DOHC also with MIVEC. The 4B11 2.0-liter engine uses a lightweight aluminum block for better power to weight and better efficiency. Maximum power for this Euro 4 compliant engine is 150 ps (148 hp) at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 197 Nm is achieved at 4,250 rpm. This engine is propelled by a CVT (continuously variable transmission) with a six-speed Sportronic shift mode plus magnesium alloy paddle shifters. This transmission delivers the best of both worlds by easing in heavy metro traffic and the occasional urge for spirited driving.
The GT-A has a class-leading seven SRS airbags that includes side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags to complement the front dual stage airbags. Standard with all units are the force limiter and pre-tensioner for the front seatbelts.
Another noteworthy feature of this Lancer EX is the Adaptive Front Lighting System (GT-A only) or AFS that throws a beam of light into the point of direction you are cornering to. The top of the line GT-A variant features High Intensity Discharge main lamps for better driving visibility at night. Accordingly, the GT-A model also features auto headlight and rain sensing wipers.
The body frame has been built using RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) technology to reassure collision safety and utmost safety for occupants. Top of the line Lancer EX GT-A will get 15-inch ventilated discs up front and 14-inch drum-in-discs at the rear aided by four-channel ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution.
The Lancer EX is available in the following colors: Sonic Blue; Amazon Red; Virgil Gray; White Solid; Carbon Black; Warm Silver Metallic (GLS only); and Sterling Silver Metallic (GT-A only). Suggested retail introductory price starts at P848,000 for the GLS MT (manual transmission) and the top-of-the-line GT-A CVT is available for P1.235 million.
