Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMCP) partnered with CANVAS (The Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development) in promoting functional literacy. CANVAS is a non-profit organization working with the creative community in improving reading literacy and deepening appreciation for arts, culture and environment. CANVAS has partnered with several award-winning artists in creating children’s books.
To mark the start of the partnership, MMPC joined CANVAS book-giving and storytelling activity held recently in Montalban, Rizal province.
MMPC lent all-new Montero Sport units to CANVAS to serve as the delivery vehicles of books that were distributed to the children and to the community library and as service vehicle of the volunteers. Froilan Dytianquin, MMPC first vice-president for marketing, facilitated in the story telling.
The book-giving activity is just the start of MMPC and CANVAS partnership. Having similar advocacies of reaching out to Filipino children and providing means to improve and at the same time promoting arts and culture and instilling awareness in caring and preserving the environment thru literature, MMPC pledged to support CANVAS projects. MMPC believes it is important to instill the value of learning, arts and culture and the environment to children at a young age, and by using interesting materials children will be encouraged as they learn and have fun at the same time.
On MMPC’s simple contribution such as providing reliable vehicles like the Montero Sport, the organization can go a long way in fulfilling their goals of providing books to one million children and encouraging them to love reading and learning. MMPC is continuously striving to contribute to the betterment of the community through several meaningful and sustainable projects. The main goal is to give back to the society and to show the significance of the automotive industry in carrying out a worthwhile mission.
