All-new Montero Sport tops mid-size SUV sales in February
Vehicle sales of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) remained strong as it concluded the month of February selling 4,870 units. Based on the combined reports of Chamber of Automotive Manufacturer of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), MMPC captured 19.4-percent market share keeping its strong No. 2 position in the industry. MMPC’s January to February total sales volume grew by 33.1-percent compared to the same period last year. Total CAMPI sales for the two-month period grew by 24.5 percent.
Of its first two-months sales, MMPC have reported growth on all segments such as passenger car models with 36.6 percent, Fuso trucks and buses at 30.8 percent and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) such as sport utility vehicles (SUVs), pick-ups, utility vehicles at 31.7 percent. For the light commercial vehicle sales, nearly half of the sales were contributed by the Montero Sport. Last month, a total of 1,595 units of Montero Sport (combined previous model and all-new Montero Sport) were sold that accounts for 49 percent of LCV sales and 32.8 percent of the total units sold by MMPC. The CAMPI report also showed that the Montero Sport tops the mid-sized SUV segment for the month of February making it a consecutive best-seller in its segment since the start of the year.
The all-new Montero Sport was launched last January and it was one of the highly-anticipated releases in the local auto industry given much praises it received from Thailand where it first debuted.

The suggested introductory retail prices for the all-new Montero Sport are as follows: GT 4WD 8-Speed AT (automatic transmission), P1.998 million; GLS 4WD 6-Speed MT (manual transmission); P1.785 million GLS 2WD Premium 8-Speed AT, P1.685 million; GLS 2WD 8-Speed AT, P1.50 million.
