DESPITE the government’s massive information drive, the public’s preparedness when a strong quake jolts Metro Manila is still “low,” said Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino after the agency conducted Mobile Earthquake Simulator activity in Taguig City on Thursday. “We really have to heighten the awareness of the public especially the barangays that fall under the West Valley Fault,” said Tolentino. In the case of Taguig City, Cayetano said as early as 2010, they have already been doing regular earthquake drills in schools. MMDA officials and personnel were joined by Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano in holding the Mobile Earthquake Simulator activity to the public. They have already identified possible evacuation centers that include the Libingan ng mga Bayani and Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City.
