TO entice passengers, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is offering free rides during the first week of operation of the ferry service in Pasig River.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said passengers will also enjoy free coffee from April 28 to May 2.
Initially, five terminals will be used—Pinagbuhatan in Pasig, Guadalupe in Makati and Santa Mesa, Escolta and Plaza Mexico, all in Manila.
“Our terminals are all set. They are just being repainted,” Tolention said.
The ferry, he added, has three routes from Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City to Guadalupe in Makati City, Guadalupe to Escolta in Manila, and Guadalupe to Plaza Mexico in Intramuros via PUP in Santa Mesa, Manila.
Fare will range from P25 to P50.
The MMDA chief said only three private companies were chosen to operate the ferry service. However, he did not identify these companies.
The operators were chosen during a meeting of the Tripartite Committee composed of officials from the MMDA, Department of Transportation and Communications and the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission.
