TRAFFIC along the routes to be followed by Skyway Stage 3 is expected to worsen in April.
Emil Yabur of the Traffic Engineering Center of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said work on the four segments of the elevated expressway goes into full swing next month.
The construction of the four segments, which involves setting up the 10 posts that will support the elevated highway, will be done simultaneously from Osmeña Highway in Manila to A. Bonifacio Ave. in Quezon City.
Yabur said that during the advance works on Skyway 3, traffic along Osmeña was not affected since they opened alternate routes.
But when the project heads towards A. Bonifacio Ave., traffic will build up considerably.
The advance works, which were started in February, will be completed in April.
Section 1 starts from April to December 2015, Section 2 from April 2014 to June 2017, Section 3 from April 2014 to December 2015 and Section 4 from April 2014 to June 2017.
To prevent traffic buildup, the project proponent must compensate the lanes that they will be occupying, Yabur said.
Skyway 3 is a six-lane expressway that will run 14.8 kilometers from Osmeña to Balintawak.
It has interchanges or ramps located in Buendia, Plaza Dilao, E. Rodriguez, Sgt. Rivera, Pres. Quirino, Aurora Blvd., Quezon Ave. and Balintawak.
