Several bus terminals along Edsa in Cubao, Quezon City were padlocked on Thursday for violating traffic policies and city ordinances.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the city government ordered the closure of Roro Bus Transport, DLTB Bus Line and Dimple Star Bus Transport. Seven other bus terminals were given final notice for violating the “nose in, nose out policy.”
The MMDA said the Roro Bus Transport was not issued a permit to put up facilities like comfort rooms and waiting areas for their passengers, and other facilities for PWDs (persons with disabilities).
The DLTB Bus meanwhile was closed down for making its terminal a garage in violation of its business permit.
The sudden closure of the bus terminals inconvenienced passengers who have made reservations.
The MMDA warned bus companies that they will be shut down too if they did not comply with traffic policies.
Some bus firms were given notice for violating the “nose-in, nose out” policy, which requires buses to avoid obstructing traffic flow.
The MMDA said that bus terminals should be big enough so that buses can make a U-turn inside.
