TRUCKS will be temporarily prohibited from traversing Roxas Boulevard in Manila starting this week.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairperson Francis Tolentino said the 24/7 truck lane will be temporarily suspended starting on Wednesday to give way for scheduled big events that will be staged along the boulevard, including the Christmas bazaar and the Parade of Stars of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Tolentino however said truckers’ operations will not be affected because alternative lanes will be opened.
Also, the MMDA chief said mall security guards who are members of Task Force Phantom are undergoing training on traffic management.
The task force is composed of motorcycle traffic enforcers, mall security personnel and members of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).
Tolentino said members of the task force will help in alleviating traffic congestion in the vicinity of shopping malls along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue.
