AN elite team from Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be providing motorcycle escort security to delegates of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit (APEC) in Bacolod City.
MMDA General Manager Corazon Jimenez said members of “Task Force Phantom” have arrived in Bacolod.
The task force will provide escort services to the head of the states during the APEC conference where 21-member economies will meet to support sustainable growth and prosperity in the Asia Pacific region.
The task force is also tasked to assist in the traffic management operations and relevant crowd control operations.
In preparation for the APEC summit set on April 29 to 30, the task force has conducted on Sunday a simulation of their duties during the event.
“Our motorcycle escorts will assist in the security of the delegates,” Jimenez told the agency’s radio program.
Jimenez said the MMDA has also sent some of its Metrobase personnel to help in monitoring the traffic situation in Bacolod.
“Chairman Francis Tolenino already talked to the team on what are expected from MMDA,” she added.
The MMDA has also dispatched its road emergency group to Bacolod which will respond in cases of emergencies.
