To ease traffic along Roxas Boulevard and other areas in Manila and Pasay City in connection with the Aliwan Fiesta 2014 on Saturday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is advising motorists to take alternate routes as traffic enforcers will be deployed to assist them in these areas.
Aliwan Fiesta is a yearly affair that gathers different cultural festivals of the Philippines at the Star City Complex wherein contingents compete in dance parades, float competitions, as well as in beauty pageant.
Dubbed as “Mother of all Fiestas”, the event will also feature a shoppers’ bazaar along Sotto Street at the CCP complex, which will be anchored on the “One Town, One Product” campaign, enabling visitors to bring home unique pasalubong from the provinces.
In its official Twitter account, MMDA said that the Manila City government will close temporarily to vehicular traffic the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak to P. Ocampo Streets at exactly 2:00 p.m.
MMDA said take the alternate routes are the following:
– All vehicles coming from three (3) bridges (Jones, McArthur & Quezon) utilizing southbound lane of Roxas Blvd. shall turn at round table (Palacio) straight to Ma. Orosa St., right to TM Kalaw, left to MH del Pilar, left to President Quirino, right to Mabini St. or use Taft Avenue towards their point of destination.
– All vehicles coming from northern part of Manila intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd. from P. Burgos to P. Ocampo shall turn left to P. Burgos right to Ma. Orosa, right to TM Kalaw, left to MH del Pilar, left to President Quirino, right to Mabini St. or use Taft Avenue.
– All motorists coming from adjacent roads from P. Burgos, TM Kalaw, UN Avenue, P. Gil, left to Pres. Quirino and P. Ocampo shall take Taft Ave., or MH del Pilar to point of destination.
– All vehicles traveling westbound lane of Pres. Quirino intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd., shall turn left to Adriatico St. right to P. Ocampo, left to FB Harrison to point of destination.
Meanwhile, MMDA advised the public to expect heavy traffic brought by the evangelical mission event of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) around SM Mall of Asia (MOA) in Pasay City also on Saturday.
According to MMDA, the closure starts at 12:01 a.m. of East and West bound of Seaside Blvd. corner Macapagal Blvd. and the closure of Seaside Blvd. corner Diokno.
The agency said that north and sound bound of Macapagal Blvd. and Diokno will remain open to traffic.
