THE main road leading to the historical Molo district in Iloilo province will be closed today as it celebrates its annual fiesta. The Traffic Management and Transportation Regulation Office (TMRTO) of Iloilo announced that the main road leading to the district’s plaza will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. to pave way to the district’s fiesta procession. However, TMRTO said they will provide alternate routes for vehicles going to the city proper. Molo, known as the Athens of the Philippines, is home to several of the country’s past and present legislators. Also national hero Dr. Jose Rizal visited and stayed in the district for a few days before going back to Manila after his exile in Dapitan town, Zamboanga province.
