GOVERNMENT security forces have finished clearing operations in Zamboanga City but are still into mopping up the mess left behind by members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) as an added precautionary measure.
“We’re through with clearing, we’re just mopping up,” Maj. Franco Alano, spokesman, Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command, on Monday said.
The mopping up operation, Alano added, was also ahead as assessed by the Crisis Management Committee during its recent meeting for the purpose.
He pointed out though that on the military side, they could not still say with certainty that they would be able to finish their remaining job as scheduled.
“So far we are on track [but]I could not say that we could meet the deadline right now, some unforeseen circumstances could happen,” Alano pointed out, adding that the military maintains its presence in the area.
