That’s Ramon Bautista in the Duterte admin
“Internet action star” Ramon Bautista always gets first dibs on all things techie. He was therefore one of the first lucky ones this side of the earth when Smart held its launch for the new iPhone 7.
In the Know got to chat with him at the event late last week where he also talked about his new book, Malapit na Unggoy, which is already out in all leading bookstores nationwide. Known for his humorous takes on love, the average joe that he is, and hashtag pick-up lines, Ramon opted to do something new and turn his latest tome into a coloring book.
“Tungkol sa mga journeys natin sa life, at saka yung importance ng patience sa buhay natin [It’s about our journeys in life and the importance of being patient],” he said.
Ramon also has an online satirical news and commentary program, delivered of course with comedic punch lines, titled Kontrabando on News5. He hosts this with Lourd De Veyra and Jun Sabayton.
Even if he has endless opportunities to hit hard on current affairs—especially with President Rodrigo Duterte now in office—Ramon admitted he avoids tackling hot issues in his show. Why so? Remember his controversial “hipon” remark at a show in Davao in 2014? Well, that earned the ire of then Mayor Digong.
“Hindi naman kami matapang [I’m not very brave],” quipped Ramon. He went on to say he never had the chance to reach out to the mayor after that but he’s just happy he got over it eventually.
“Wala smile-smile lang. Tuloy lang ang buhay alam mo naman na iikot at iikot lang ang mundo basta enjoy lang tayo [Just keep on smiling; the world will keep on turning and life will keep on going so long as we enjoy ourselves],” he ended.
It is not even Christmas yet but silver medalist Olympian Hidilyn Diaz already got a back to back gift.
Hidilyn was recognized on Thursday as the sports role model for The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) in Makati, after which she told In The Know that she is very much in love!
Now who’s the lucky guy? Hidilyn says it’s her long-time friend and co-athlete Cyril Nacario who is a Filipino body builder based in the United Kingdom.
“Naging in touch kami dahil dahil sa [we got in touch via]Facebook,” gushed Hidilyn. The silver medalist is 25-years-old Cyril is two years her junior. They’ve known each other since 2012. For our weight lifting champ, there’s a big advantage on dating a co-athlete.
“Atleta din siya kaya naintindihan din niya gaano kahirap yung din kailangan ko as an athlete [Being an athlete himself, he knows the difficulties I need to endure as one as well],” she added.
Because of this, Hidilyn appreciates how her boyfriend respects her schedule. He even extended his vacation in the Philippines until January 2017 so he could be with her for the holidays. Cyril accompanies Hidilyn these days as she stays focused on her three- to four days a week training so she can finally bag that gold medal come 2020 at the Tokyo Olympics.
Hidilyn believes her determination and love for country is the reason why Cyril got attracted to her in the first place.
“Siguro dahil nakita niya and hardwork ko sa training; nakita niya rin gaano ko ka mahal ang Pilipinas kasi siya kahit nasa London mahal na mahal niya rin Pilipinas at uuwi talaga siya [I guess he saw my hard work in training and how much I love the Philippines like him; even if he lives in London he loves the Philippines and he always comes home].”
If ever Hidilyn’s relationship gets more serious, our Olympian champ made it clear that she will never relocate to the UK for her boyfriend.
He’s taken, but this heartthrob now has eyes for another up and coming actress he is working with on a project. Their chemistry is undeniable though.
Word is on set that heartthrob even picks up and coming actress at her house when she is out at parties and during her other endeavors!
Their fling is relatively new but up and coming actress seems smitten. According to In The Know’s source, she even requests her management to only pair her with heartthrob actor on their current project.
Let’s see where this goes!
Until next week! Ta-ta!
