Those suffering from withdrawal symptoms since ABS-CBN’s hit teleserye Forevermore ended on primetime a couple of weeks ago can heave a sigh of relief. For very soon, they will get to see the beautiful pairing of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano again, this time on the big screen.
Yes, come June 17, what has been dubbed as showbiz’ “breakthrough love team of 2015” are starring in their very first movie together, titled Just the Way You Are, and they are just as excited as their fans.
At the movie’s press launch this week, the two young stars jointly expressed their amazement over the public’s response to their team up in Forevermore.
“Iba talaga ang naging success love team na ito, because like many people have said, I’ve been paired with other actresses before pero ito yung nag click,” acknowledged 23-year-old Enrique, who owes his dashing good looks to a mix of Filipino, Spanish, Swiss and German mix. “Siguro sabi nila, bakit ibang-iba itong team up namin ni Liza, and all I can say is I guess they just found something special seeing us together. And also, unlike before when I didn’t want to be paired up with just one person for projects, I do want to stick with this team up.”
For Liza, who had long been the “third wheel” to the phenomenal Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla love team, the effect of her pairing with Enrique is something she finds truly overwhelming.
“Nakakapanibago na bida na ako ngayon kasama ni Enrique, because unlike before where KathNiel’s fans even hated me, we are somehow in their shoes because of Forevermore,” related the 17-year-old Filipino-American beauty. “Ibang-iba ang feeling, and all this really makes me happy.”
Just the Way You Are is a romantic comedy centered on the story of Drake and Sophia, as portrayed by Enrique and Liza. Drake is a “bad boy” who gets entangled with Sophia, the least popular girl in school, because of a bet he made with a friend that he could make her fall head over heels for him. Forced to spend time with her, Drake discovers that just like him, Sophia is also dealing with family issues, a common denominator that allows both of them to see beyond one another’s superficiality.
Just The Way You Are marks the mainstream debut of director Theodore Boborol and the film adaptation of best-selling pop fiction book The Bet by Ceres Helga Barios and Maan Dimaculangan-Fampule. It also stars Yayo Aguila, Alex Diaz, John Lucas, Chienna Filomeno, Marco Gumabao, Myrtle Sarrosa, Kyra Custodio, Miguel Vergara, Yves Floers, Sue Ramirez, and Erin Ocampo, with the special participation of Tonton Gutierrez and Sunshine Cruz.
Opening in theaters nationwide on June 17, the movie is a production of Star Cinema.
