AN alleged member of the Al Qaeda linked Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) wanted for 27 counts of kidnapping was nabbed by joint police and naval intelligence operatives that swooped down on his hiding place in Bayani Road, Taguig City on Tuesday morning.
The Chief of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Director Victor Deona, quoting reports from the field identified, the arrested ASG member as Sakur Mustakim alias ‘Sakur,’ ‘Jr Mustakim,’ and “Junio Asarani Sawadjaan,” and a native of Jolo, Sulu.
Mustakim was nabbed by a joint team of CIDG National Capital Region (NCRCIDG) and the National Capital Regional unit of the Naval Intelligence Security Group (NCR NISG) by virtue of warrant of arrest for six counts of kidnapping in connection with the abduction of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and 21 counts in connection with the kidnapping of foreigners in Sipadan, Malaysia in 2002 and 2010 respectively.
The CIDG Chief added that the Mustakim is a member of the ASG Urban Terrorist Group and listed as a Most Wanted Person with a DND-DILG joint reward valuation committee monetary reward amounting to P900,000.
Deona said that Mustakim was committed on Tuesday at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Taguig City.
