A MOTORCYCLE rider was shot to death by a motorcycle riding gunmen early on Thursday in a remote village in Agusan del Sur province, police reports said on Friday.
Reports reaching Camp Crame on Friday identified the victim as Jose Tajonera Espinoza, 48 and resident of Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Rosario town of said province.
The reports added that the incident occurred at about 5:45am on Thursday along Purok 1-A, Poblacion, Rosario, Agusan del Sur province.
Police investigations said that the victim was driving his motorcycle when the two gunmen, aboard their motorcycle, drove by beside the victim. After a while one of the gunmen pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and fired shots at Espinoza hitting him on different parts of his body. Espinoza died immediately.
The gunmen immediately fled the scene after the shooting, witnesses said.
The police recovered four empty bullet shells and two slugs at the crime scene. Police also recovered a .45 pistols with two magazines, a wallet containing cash amounting to P1,520, important documents, a wrist watch and a mobile phone from the victim.
Police are still investigating to determine the motive of the shooting and to identify the identity of the shooters. ANTHONY VARGAS
