THE Manila Police District had identified 32 high-value illegal drug suspects, some of them village officials.

MPD Director Joel Napoleon Coronel said his men are closely monitoring the movements of the suspects who are either drug protectors or big time drug dealers. He said some are hiding in the provinces.

“Some of these high-value suspects are elected and appointed officials serving the government in official capacity. Yes, some are chairmen and councilors,” Coronel told reporters at a news forum in Ermita, Manila.

The MPD chief said they also identified 16 police officers who resell confiscated illegal drugs. He however refused to name them.

“All the 16 were transferred to the Cordillera, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Caraga Region (Surigao and Agusan provinces),” he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte recently offered P2 million reward for the arrest of policemen who resell seized illegal drugs.

At the same time, Coronel said the MPD is investigating the killing of 36 people to ind out if these were drug related or not.

“Usually, we consider three angles in those questionable deaths like rival gangs, involving scalawag policemen clearing their ranks, and eliminating their sources,” he said.

These deaths are separate from the killing of 191 drug suspects were killed during legitimate police operations.
Coronel said the MPD aims to convince 150,000 of the estimated 400,000 drug users in the city to surrender within one year. So far, 13,455 drug users have turned themselves in.

    1. why were the 16 policemen / resellers of confiscated drugs just reassigned to remote areas where we are not certain if they’ll stop their nefarious trade.
just like putting rotten eggs from your left pocket to your right pocket. the rotten egg is still there.
these 16 shitheads resold confiscated drugs thus identifying them as drug pushers but since they got the drugs without paying for it , they are basically a rung higher than the ordinary drug pusher, for that matter they are a rung higher still than the drug lord. in the animal kingdom you can rightfully identify the 16 as the alpha male
maybe because of being alpha males, the 16 were only transferred ! what a way to go!!!!

    2. The PNP leadership should file charges in court to these scalawag policemen instead of just transferring them. Once they are not meted the desired punishment by dishonorably discharging them from the service and putting them behind bars as retribution to their crimes, there is no guarantee that they would not stop doing illegal activities in their new place of assignment.
