The Manila Police District (MPD) on Friday announced that all its unit will go on red alert starting Sunday as part of the efforts to secure Monday’s rally against the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
The red alert will be implemented until Tuesday, August 27.
The rally, which is expected to gather around one million protesters, will be held at the Rizal Park in Manila.
Chief Supt. Isagani Genabe, MPD chief, said around 400 police officers will be deployed to secure Monday’s protest actions.
Genabe said that their operatives will be deployed in strategic areas.
He also expressed hope that the organizers will marshal their ranks so that the rally will be peaceful. PNA
