As the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) expands its safety and right-of-way (ROW) information campaign, it tapped the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to help them reach wider audiences by showing their safety and anti-pilferage public service videos in movie theaters.
MTRCB, being the entity that supervises and regulates the public exhibition of motion pictures, television programs, and publicity materials, was more than willing to help NGCP by “making available relevant expert information and other resources, to enable NGCP to mobilize the dissemination of its line safety campaign material to local theater operators.”
MTRCB and NGCP, the operator of the country’s power transmission network, affirmed their partnership in disseminating the grid operator’s advocacy on transmission line safety and protection, and guarding against right-of-way (ROW) violations. The partnership was formalized on June 16 through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the agencies, with MTRCB represented by Chairperson Eugenio Villareal, and NGCP represented by Board Director and Chief Administrative Officer, Anthony Almeda.
In the MOU, both companies committed to “protect the physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being of the youth and other vulnerable sectors, inculcating patriotism and nationalism, and encouraging their involvement in public and civic affairs,” including safety, anti-pilferage and right-of-way of the nationwide transmission assets.
The grid operator expressed its appreciation to MTRCB stating that the partnership between NGCP and MTRCB is “a strategic cooperation between the public and private sector will further advance the advocacies of NGCP, particularly on spreading awareness on transmission line safety, anti-pilferage, and right-of-way issues.”
