A LOCAL government employee was shot to death by a chainsaw operator early dawn on Sunday in a remote village in Surigao del Norte province, police reports said on Monday.
Reports reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Operations Center in Camp Crame identified the victim as Alejandro Turtor, 45, a municipal employee and a resident of Barangay Poniente, Gigaguit town, Surigao del Norte while the suspect was identified as Harnel Turtor, 34, a chainsaw operator, also a resident of the said barangay.
Police investigation revealed that the shooting incident occurred at about 12:45a.m. Sunday. Initial investigations revealed that the two have had a heated argument for an unknown reason prior to the shooting.
Police said the victim died on the spot while the suspect quickly fled after the incident.
The Gigaquit Municipal Police are now conducting a manhunt operation against the suspect. ANTHONY VARGAS
