TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte: A municipal judge from Northern Samar could have been killed by gunmen on Monday had he not worn a bullet-proof vest. Chief Insp. Rafael Tayaban identified the judge as Reynaldo Espinar. Initial investigation showed that Espinar was driving his motorcycle on his way to Catarman, Northern Samar, where his sala is located. While traversing along bBrangay Burabod, two men shot him, hitting him in the chest and causing his motorcycle to crash. Espinar was left for dead by the gunmen. He has been wearing a bullet-proof vest for years because of threats to his life. Espinar went to a police station and reported the incident. A manhunt for the two suspects is underway.
