The local government of Muntinlupa City (Metro Manila) has reclaimed its ISO 9001 Quality Management System, an international standard accreditation translating an organization’s effectiveness toward its services to the public and operations according to international standards.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi received the certification for the local government unit’s public administration and services, health care, social assistance, educational services, tertiary school operations and management of hospital operations under supervision and funding of the Health Services Department of the city government, last April 27.
Formerly accredited to his first tenure in 2003, Fresnedi worked for reclaiming the international standard as one of the banner achievements of his comeback by embarking on a transparent and accountable leadership in the service of the people of Muntinlupa.
ISO 9001, the world’s leading quality management standard, describes the set of procedures an organization needs to follow in order to meet its objectives.
Often used by business organizations, the local government adopted the corporate practice of upgraded management for more efficient use of resources, improved risk management and increased constituents’ satisfaction in the high standards of public service.
Other recipients of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System were Ospital ng Muntinlupa headed by Dr. Edwin Dimatatac and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa headed by Dr. Ellen Presnedi.
The local government underwent internal audits under the supervision of BRS Rim of the World Operations, California.
Fresnedi said this milestone assures the people of the city that the government is committed to good stewardship management of its resources.
He added that ISO 9001 certification opens up vast opportunities for growth of Muntinlupa not only on a local scale but also globally.
