Muntinlupa drug surrenderers get scholarships, livelihood aid

THE city government of Muntinlupa will provide scholarships and loans to hundreds of drug dependents who surrendered to local authorities.

The 618 surrenderers screened by the city government will be receiving assistance such as scholarship, enrollment in technical-vocational institution and zero-interest loan financing for business.

Tez Navarro of the Muntinlupa Public Information Office said drug users assessed and identified as mildly and moderately affected were given options to avail themselves of various social services.

These programs aims to reintegrate drug surrenderers into their own communities.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has expressed support to the campaign against illegal drugs but he believes that the campaign will be effective if drug users undergo recovery and rehabilitation programs.
