LONDON: Jo Cox, a British member of parliament who campaigned for the country to stay in the EU and more aid for Syrian refugees, was killed in a brutal street attack on Thursday.

Weapons, including a firearm, were recovered from the scene of the incident in northern England and the sole suspect, a 52-year-old man, is being held by police.
