    . . . Shrek
Everyone will surely love to “shrek” the halls this holiday season as the world’s grandest musical returns in Manila to have a very limited rerun from December until January 04 at the Meralco Theater.

Made possible Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group, Shrek the Musical highlights the endearing characters of Shrek, a swamp-dwelling ogre, Donkey, a wisecracking best friend of Shrek, and Fiona, a temperamental and neurotic princess.

Joining them in a colorful adventure are brave puppet Pinocchio, Gingerbread man with an attitude and the three blind Mice.

Besides its very entertaining and family-friendly story, the show also displays enchanting prosthetics, make-up, costumes and production design. Its production designer Benny Batoctoy admirably collected visually appealing elements that make the show more unique and spectacular.

One of these elements that the viewers should look forward to is the creation of the majestic dragon, which plays an important role in Princess Fiona’s character in the musical. Also, viewers are expected to be touched by the show’s hit songs and music which are produced by Jeanine Tesori and David Lindsay-Abaire.

Shrek the Musical is helmed by award-winning theatre director Bobby Garcia and it showcases international and local talents including, Rycharde Everley, ShielaValderama-Martinez, Lorenz Martinez, Nel Gomez, Carla Guevara-Laforteza and Nyoy Volante

    . . . ‘Disney on Ice’
Disney on Ice Dare to Dream shared a unique and heartwarming Christmas experience on its annual Charity Day last December 24 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Thousands of beneficiaries supported by Araneta Group’s Charity arms, Julio Amado Araneta Foundation and Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. were the first to watch the fantastic ice spectacle, which featured Snow White, Cinderella, Princess Tiana and Rapunzel.

Children from Operation Smile, Hero Foundation, Make A Wish Foundation and various kids from orphanages and underprivileged communities were wowed by the fanciful journeys and awesome ice-skating numbers of the Disney princesses.

A main highlight for the show was the special participation of Make A Wish foundation beneficiary, Mica Duff. The 9-year-old who was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma (a form of liver cancer), had initially wished to get a Rapunzel doll from the wish-granting foundation, only to later on be surprised to meet and hug Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in the flesh, and take part in the iconic recreation of the lantern launch from the movie Tangled.

Disney on Ice Dare to Dream runs until January 4. For tickets, visit www.ticketnet.com.ph or call 911-5555.
