As more Filipinos continue to patronize Uber as the provider of “alternative” transportation in Metro Manila, the company has partnered with Smart Communications to better improve its service.
No less than PLDT and Smart Chairman Manny Pangilinan and Uber Regional General Manager Mike Brown sealed the deal in September along with other officials from both companies including Ariel Fermin, EVP and head of Consumer Business for PLDT and Smart, Eric Alberto, EVP and head of Enterprise Business for PLDT, Orlando Vea, Voyager Innovations president, and Laurence Cua, Uber General Manager for Philippines.
The night’s special guest was beautiful actress and Smart endorser, Anne Curtis. She was joined by another beautiful lady, event host and model Bianca Valerio.
A first for Uber, the strategic and multi-year partnership will introduce free in-car WiFi and other promotions for Uber passengers.
“In Smart, Uber has found the perfect fit to realize our common vision of providing an unrivaled user experience built on a strong foundation of reliability, convenience and network efficiency,” announced Brown.
In response, Fermin shared that supporting Uber mirrors the telco’s goal of providing “urban comfort” to Filipinos be it in transport or communication.
Powered by Smart, the free WiFi is initially available for Uber Black vehicles, and will be available in for all Uber cars in the next months. Smart subscribers in Metro Manila who are first time users of the Uber app also got two free rides.
Not to be left behind are the Uber drivers who will have exclusive voice and data packages, as well as handsets and tablets available at online store Tack This eCommerce platform from Voyager Innovations.
Within days after the launch of Smart’s support for Uber, digital services provider PLDT Home also offered its hand in further strengthening the ride-sharing company.
PLDT Home and Uber formalized a strategic partnership where the telco’s broadband subscribers can enjoy the benefits of the innovative transport service.
All they need to do is download the Uber app on their computers, Telpad and any smart devices at home and as first time users, they will immediately get free rides in Metro Manila as part of the ongoing offer for the month of October.
According to PLDT VP and head of HOME marketing Gary Dujali the partnership is part of PLDT Home’s commitment to enhance the digital lifestyle of its consumers by teaming up with mobile applications and online platforms that will complement their lifestyle needs.
