KIDAPAWAN CITY: The North Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO-North Cotabato) will embark on a massive procurement of medicine and other medical supplies after a fire hit the IPHO storage room Saturday.
Dr. Eva Rabaya, IPHO chief, said North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza ordered the procurement of medicines to ensure unhampered delivery of health services in the province.
”We are waiting for the Bureau of Fire Protection to complete the investigation,” Mendoza said in a statement following the Saturday morning conflagration.
”For the meantime, we need to make emergency procurement so as not to hamper the operations and programs of the Department of Health (DOH), Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) and the Rural Health Units (RHU’s), especially on preventive health care,” she added.
North Cotabato Fire Marshall Darwin Custodio said arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire that started inside the storage room of the old IPHO building inside the Amas provincial capitol grounds
The fire quickly spread to several rooms made of wooden materials and destroyed medicine, medical supplies and other stocks.
The fire chief placed the estimated damage at P7 million. PNA
