N.Vizcaya strengthens animal protection drive

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: The Provincial Government has heightened its drive to protect the livestock in the province. Diomedes Anuma of the Provincial Veterinary office said the effort includes deworming, dog vaccination, artificial insemination and disease surveillance. At least 158,524 animals were vaccinated and protected against cholera, black leg and avian pests. A total of 22,567 were also dewormed. Anuma added that his office also conducted a series of information and advocacy campaigns on responsible pet ownership, which resulted in the vaccination of 17,507 dogs. The Veterinary office also provided artificial insemination to 1,287 sows, 91 cows, and 182 female carabaos. This is aside from providing more than P1 million as livelihood assistance to qualified associations in the province. Also, Anuma said the monitoring of the entry of animals in the province is closely monitored to ensure that the province is still free from the animal diseases that plagued neighboring Asian countries.

    Dear Leander,

Thanks a lot for highlighting the efforts of the Vet Staff in NV.

Not related to this article; please write about the rampant akyat-bahay in Lal-lo, Cagayan. In one night alone recently, 6 houses were robbed. Conspicuously, one of the houses is very close to the Mayor’s house which is heavily guarded 24/7. Please write something about this unfortunate incidences as the town officials don’t seem to care much. Please help get the attention of the Mayor and the Police officials.

The people of Lallo will be most grateful. Thank you.
