NAIA GM clarifies ‘50 workers report’

We refer to the July 3, 2014 article of Mr. Benjie Vergara regarding “50 NAIA workers” who fear losing their jobs as a result of the integration of the international terminal fee into the airline ticket.

When the integration project was planned, the matter of employees who will be affected by the implementation was a priority in our list of concerns.

Organic employees will be retained and retooled to handle related functions. For currently outsourced employees, we are confident that there will be room in the rationalized MIAA organization for those who will be displaced in the process. As soon as we receive approval of our Rationalization Plan, they are free to apply and may be considered PROVIDED they satisfy the education, experience and eligibililty requirement for a position. These are mandated by the Civil Service Commission from job applicants wanting to join government service.

Hoping we have enlightened you on the matter. Thank you.

Yours,

MGEN JOSE ANGEL A HONRADO (AFP) RET
